## What These Frameworks Are

These are named mental models Chandan uses repeatedly — with founders, in advisory engagements, across his community, and in his writing. They are not academic frameworks. Each one was extracted from real decisions made at real revenue stages.

## Framework 01 — The Revenue Lifecycle Stack

**Status:** Published
**Full framework:** https://chandan.im/frameworks/revenue-lifecycle-stack/

### The idea
Acquisition, retention, and monetization are not three separate functions — they are three layers of one system. The error most companies make is optimizing each layer independently, which creates gaps the customer falls through.

### The model
- **Acquisition layer** — how customers find and enter the system
- **Retention layer** — how customers stay and compound their value
- **Monetization layer** — how value is extracted at the right moment without destroying the other two layers

### The key insight
Diagnose top-down (acquisition → retention → monetization), but optimize bottom-up (fix monetization first, then retention, then acquisition). Most companies do this backwards — they pour more into acquisition before fixing the leaky layers below.

### Who it's for
Founders and CMOs at any revenue stage. Particularly useful when a company has growth but declining unit economics, or acquisition momentum with retention problems.

## Framework 02 — The Stage-Gate Marketing Model

**Status:** Published
**Full framework:** https://chandan.im/frameworks/stage-gate-marketing/

### The idea
The marketing playbook that works at ₹1 crore revenue is actively harmful at ₹10 crore. The playbook that works at ₹10 crore breaks at ₹100 crore. There are three distinct stages — and the transition between them requires a deliberate restructure, not incremental improvement.

### The three gates

**Gate 1 — ₹1 crore / ~$120K (Founder-led stage)**
- Marketing = founder talking to customers
- Channel: direct, referral, community
- Mistake to avoid: hiring a head of marketing too early

**Gate 2 — ₹10 crore / ~$1.2M (Systems-led stage)**
- Marketing = documented playbooks and measurable channels
- Channel: performance marketing, content, partnerships
- Mistake to avoid: founder still in the critical path of every campaign

**Gate 3 — ₹100 crore / ~$12M (Org-led stage)**
- Marketing = org design and cross-functional accountability
- Channel: brand, enterprise GTM, market category ownership
- Mistake to avoid: applying Stage-1 instincts to Stage-3 problems

### The key insight
Most companies hit the Stage-Gate wall between ₹5–10 crore. What worked before stops working — not because the team got worse, but because the stage changed and the playbook didn't. See: https://chandan.im/writing/what-breaks-at-10-crore/

### Who it's for
Founders going through a revenue inflection point. Investors trying to diagnose why portfolio companies stall. CMOs joining a company mid-stage who need to understand what they've inherited.

## Framework 03 — The Autonomous Marketing Stack (In Progress)

**Status:** Coming soon
**Expected at:** https://chandan.im/frameworks/autonomous-marketing-stack/

### The idea
The reference architecture for a multi-agent marketing system: creative engine → listening layer → paid orchestration → outbound.

### Preview
- **Creative engine**: AI agents that produce content with brand memory and a receipt gate
- **Listening layer**: agents that monitor signals across social, search, and competitor channels
- **Paid orchestration**: AI-managed campaign execution with budget allocation and creative rotation
- **Outbound**: signal-based prospecting and sequencing at scale

## Framework 04 — The Brand Memory Engine (In Progress)

**Status:** Coming soon
**Expected at:** https://chandan.im/frameworks/brand-memory-engine/

### The idea
How AI agents learn and compound brand knowledge over time — the core of what makes autonomous marketing a durable advantage rather than a one-time campaign.

## Framework 05 — The 1-to-200 Org Shift (In Progress)

**Status:** Coming soon
**Expected at:** https://chandan.im/frameworks/1-to-200-org-shift/

### The idea
What breaks in marketing strategy as teams scale from scrappy startup to enterprise. A field guide for the roles that appear, disappear, and get redefined between 1 and 200 people.

## Related Concepts

### The Category-Builder's Compass
Four moves for building categories rather than chasing channels:
1. Own the vocabulary (name the category before competitors do)
2. Write in public (the thinking builds the category, not just the product)
3. Community before funnel (relationships compound; funnels don't)
4. Win month six before month one (if the retention story is weak, fix it before scaling acquisition)
